«It is a very special day that should be marvellous, unforgettable: like an opera, a play, a romantic show. Since 1987 we have made few white dresses, «off-white» rather, pastel or even black, to say nothing of gold, silver or multicolour prints. I prefer the veil to the hat. I think that the veil represents the bride. The bride's bouquet may be replaced by an old family missal.
This party idea should be part of improvisation, of individual freedom, of expression. You have to create an environment for yourself, for your «tribe», be into what we want and not stage a major social spectacle to impress the crowd to show off our social level or pretend to be what we are not.
All women, in all cases, know that they should wear a unique dress, take it to the limit, embroidered or simple, but spectacular. We are far from the idea of the simple dress that may one day be useful for another occasion. We must create a theatre of reality, since it is the only day that we actually appear on the stage.»
