The Pasarela Gaudí Novias closes its most international edition

Once again, creativity and glamour, in a setting with a decidedly international character, were the mainstays of the seventeenth edition of the PASARELA GAUDÍ NOVIAS, in which 35 designers of worldwide prestige participated. More than 500 press members from every continent came to the show which was visited by almost 13,000 people between May 29th and June 1st at the Gran Via Site of Fira Barcelona.

The international character of this event takes on greater relevance with each edition. Of the accredited reporters, 25% came from abroad, from 17 different countries. Italy, Mexico, the United Kingdom and France were the most notable countries, with an increasing presence of countries from the eastern block.

Its international character was also reflected in the designers who participated. Karl Lagerfeld, in collaboration with Rosa Clará, paraded for the first time in Barcelona with his wedding collection. Cymbeline, which organised a spectacular show in the Poble Español in Barcelona, chose this city to celebrate its annual collection. The Valentino and Elie by Elie Saab collections, exclusively for Pronovias, closed this brilliant edition of the PASARELA GAUDÍ NOVIAS.

Many other companies have been faithful to this event for years: De la Cierva y Nicolás, Franc Sarabia, Francis Montesinos, Fuentecapala, Hannibal Laguna, Jesús del Pozo, Jesús Peiró, Joaquim Verdú, Mª Lluïsa Rabell, Maria Alegre, Matilde Cano, Model Novias, Novia d’Art, Patricia Avendaño, Pepe Potella, Pronovias and Manuel Mota, Raimon Bundó, Rosa Clará, Ruben Perlotti, Siona Garcia and Victorio & Lucchino. Among the new inclusions, there was Ana Torres, Cabotine, Esther Rodríguez, Priam, White Day by José Mª Peiró and Yolan Cris.

The organisation’s decision to go for young design was materialised in the “Emergent creators” parade, which revealed how new Spanish design values will dress brides in 2008. A proposal which, once again, confirmed the quality and creativity of the collections of the six designers chosen: Asier Tapia, Cristóbal Vidal, Eva y Flora, Juan Vidal, Mar Rodríguez and Sergei Povagin.

The excellent results of the first edition of this initiative were reflected in the fact that Cristóbal Vidal, Mar Rodríguez and Sergei Povagin are already commercialising their wedding line and were present with a stand at BARCELONA BRIDAL WEEK Show. Moda Barcelona thus provided a unique opportunity to conquer and enrich a sector in which Spain is a world leader and a synonym of quality and design. Asier Tapia, Eva y Flora and Juan Vidal, with the same objective, also joined this platform for the first time, after being chosen by the Selection Committee according to the highest levels of design and creativity.

Among the leading international designers who presented their new wedding proposals at the PASARELA GAUDÍ NOVIAS, we should mention ARANTXA SANTAMARIA, CLARA MAS, DAVINIA, ELISABETH MAS, EUGENIA SILVA, EVA GONZALEZ, HANA SOUKUPOVA, ISABELI FONTANA, KAROLINA KURKOVA, LAURA SANCHEZ, MADELAINE HJORT, MARINA JAMIESON, MARIA PEREZ, MIRANDA KERR, MONICA CRUZ, NATALIA ZABALA, PRISCILA DE GUSTIN and SOLANGE WILVERT.

In a parallel way to the PASARELA GAUDÍ NOVIAS, there was the second edition of the VILLAGE in which companies such as BLANCAFORT, HOLA, LA VANGUARDIA, LE CHEF, OSIM, PURE, SENSILIS and VIÑA ESMERALDA participated. They were all able to present and promote their new products before the thousands of visitors who, between parades, strolled around and chatted in this wonderful setting, at the access to the parades.

The PASARELA GAUDÍ NOVIAS then gave way to the BARCELONA BRIDAL WEEK-NOVIAESPAÑA fashion show, one of the leading international shows of its kind. Its new location at the Gran Via Site of Fira Barcelona meant that the surface area of the exhibition was increased to 30,000 m2, with a greater international presence that gave a particularly positive balance.

With these participation figures, the PASARELA GAUDÍ NOVIAS, the most relevant world level platform, set a new record both qualitatively as well as quantitatively. It is not for nothing that the rise of the Spanish wedding fashion is unstoppable and that this industry, which finds its best form of expression in BARCELONA BRIDAL WEEK, is acquiring increasingly more importance, becoming a world power.
