The most relevant companies in the sector have confirmed their participation in the 2009 edition

The spanking pace of the contracting leads to a forecast for full occupation of Pavilion 8 at the Gran Vía Venue of Fira Barcelona

Three months from the opening of BARCELONA BRIDAL WEEK 2009, most of the leading companies in the sector have placed their confidence in the event yet again; the only show that for the last 18 years has combined the quality and creativity that make the Spanish bridal industry a reference at a worldwide level. While most of the sectors are suffering from the devastating effects of the current economic situation, the Barcelona show has resisted the crisis thanks to the fidelity of its exhibitors, visitors and specialised press which, every year, attend the BARCELONA BRIDAL WEEK and its two main events: the PASARELA GAUDÍ NOVIAS (9th-12th June 2009) and the Salón Internacional NOVIAESPAÑA (12th-14th June 2009).

So far, more than a hundred high and medium-high firms have confirmed their participation at the show and if the contracting follows this sharp pace, we foresee that we will exceed the figures of the 2008 edition, which had 136 companies and more than 200 brands. This growth is the result of the support and confidence in the sector that BARCELONA BRIDAL WEEK has renewed in each edition since it was created in 1991.

In the international arena, foreign participation continues to be a notable feature. On this occasion, there will be exhibitions from companies in Germany, Belgium, Cyprus, France, Holland, England, Italy, Lebanon and Portugal, confirming the importance of the show as an intense, dynamic centre for business and commercial contacts for professionals the world over. The 2008 edition enjoyed a foreign presence of 40%, with an increase of 2% on the previous year.

From a qualitative point of view, NOVIAESPAÑA will once again be a special place in which purchasers from all over the world will find out, first hand, about the new trends in fabrics, colours and fashion lines for brides, grooms, ceremonies, communions and accessories. An encounter with the quality and the differentiating products that are enriched each year with high-level proposals, such as that of JOSEP FONT who, hand in hand with MODEL NOVIAS will offer visitors the exquisiteness of the collections of a designer who has been showing his garments in the Haute Couture of Paris for several seasons now.

The show will once again enjoy the active presence of relevant purchasing centres and retailers from all over the world within the framework of the international promotion programmes that we have been developing over the last 18 years. Currently, foreign visitors account for 60% of the total number of professionals. Italy continues to lead the ranking of countries, followed by France, Germany, Switzerland, the United States, Portugal, Japan, the United Kingdom, Holland, Greece, Croatia, Turkey or Ukraine, among the most notable ones. The increase in the number of professionals from Russia is significant, which has taken the third place in the order of countries that attend the Show.

Pasarela Gaudí Novias, an encounter with creativity

In a parallel way, the commercial activity of the Show, BARCELONA BRIDAL WEEK will be the setting for the PASARELA GAUDÍ NOVIAS which, from 9th to 12th of June, will present the 2010 collections of more than 40 national and international designers of worldwide prestige.

Four intense days of parades which will enjoy the presence of great names in the world of bridal creation, staunch supporters of the PASARELA GAUDÍ NOVIAS since its beginnings, with the addition of new figures in bridal design.

This platform, which has become a point of reference for specialist magazines from every continent, will show how designers use all their ingenuity and creativity to offer new, interesting proposals, year after year.

With all these plans, an experience of more than 18 years and after an ascending phase of development and international expansion, we can confirm that BARCELONA BRIDAL WEEK has the maturity that positions it as the most important world meeting for the sector. Evidence of this is the commitment that companies and purchasers successfully renew each year, thus verifying the attraction and singularity of Barcelona as the international capital of Bridal Fashion.
